The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is currently conducting internal tests to ensure the seamless functioning and error-free generation of QR code tickets. Their objective is to address and rectify any potential issues before making the technology available to passengers.
To facilitate the transition to QR code technology, DMRC recently introduced paper tickets based on QR codes across all Metro lines. Each Metro station has at least two gates equipped with QR code readers. However, the system has encountered some problems and glitches.
Nevertheless, DMRC remains committed to enhancing the technology and resolving any challenges encountered during the trial phase. The ultimate aim is to streamline ticketing processes and provide a user-friendly experience for Metro passengers, thereby enhancing the overall commuting experience in Delhi.
Currently, approximately 75 percent of DMRC commuters utilize smart cards, marking a slight increase from 78 percent in May of the previous year. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the smart card usage stood at around 70 percent.
