MSRDC to monetize land parcels along Pune-Mumbai expressway

A total of 450 hectares will be leased to fund major infrastructure projects, such as the Samruddhi expressway, Pune ring road, Virar-Alibaug multimodal corridor and Jalna Nanded expressway, among others, he said.

The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), which is executing some of the big-ticket infrastructure projects across the state, is planning to monetise its land parcels along the Pune-Mumbai expressway.

A senior MSRDC official told on Tuesday that 24 land parcels have been identified along the e-way. A total of 450 hectares will be leased to fund major infrastructure projects, such as the Samruddhi expressway, Pune ring road, Virar-Alibaug multimodal corridor and Jalna Nanded expressway, among others, he said.

The land will be leased for a period of 99 years for monetising these projects. MSRDC managing director Radheshyam Mopalwar said that the plan is currently being implemented in Pune and Raigad districts for leasing lands along the e-way.

“The land parcels of the MSRDC were lying vacant, so we have taken the decision to monetise our key projects,” he said.

A senior MSRDC official engaged in the land acquisition process said that a tender has been floated for the land parcel at Panvel and a similar one will be floated for Pune, too.

While the MSRDC has 189 hectares of land in Pune district, it has 262 hectares in Raigad which will be leased. “Funds from the same will be utilised to expedite all major projects,” added the official. The land parcels belong to 12 villages each in both the districts.

Officials said that some land parcels are owned by the corporation, while some have been assigned by the government to raise funds for the infrastructure projects. The strategy would be to float tenders for long lease. With the land parcels being close to the e-way, wayside amenities can be set up or developers can go in for residential constructions, the officials added.

Investors said that wayside amenities are the next big thing along the highways. “If the corporation has land parcels it will help investors go for such investments,” said an investor from Pune who has invested in a restaurant close to the e-way.

The MSRDC has around 30 parcels of over 1,100 acres across the state.

The MSRDC has also been entrusted with planning and development of areas comprising 71 villages in Panvel and Khalapur Taluka in Raigad district.
