Vishal Bhardwaj’s family buys apartment in Mumbai

The Bhardwaj family has purchased the apartment spread over a built up area of 2,056 sq ft on the 21st floor of residential tower Bay View and have paid stamp duty of Rs 1.17 crore for the registration of the deal.

Bollywood filmmaker, director and music composer Vishal Bhardwaj’s family has bought a premium residential apartment in Versova locality of Mumbai’s Andheri suburb for Rs 19.5 crore.

The Hindi film screenwriter has purchased the apartment along with his singer wife Rekha Bhardwaj and writer, director and actor son Aasmaan Bhardwaj.

The Bhardwaj family has purchased the apartment spread over a built up area of 2,056 sq ft on the 21st floor of residential tower Bay View and have paid stamp duty of Rs 1.17 crore for the registration of the deal.

The transaction was finalised on October 7 and was registered on October 10, showed the documents accessed through Indextap.com that aggregates publicly available registration data.

As part of the deal, the family will also get exclusive access to a total three car parking slots in the tower.

ET’s email query to Bhardwaj’s company Vishal Bhardwaj Films did not elicit any response.

Mumbai, the country’s largest and most expensive real estate market, has been setting new benchmarks and records with respect to property transactions since September 2020, when the state government announced a limited window stamp duty reduction.

The significant but limited period stamp duty reduction window that ended on March 31, 2021 was a key catalyst for the city’s property market. While the benefit of lower stamp duty is not available anymore, the deals have continued to flow in.

Several corporate personalities, business founders, industrialists, and Bollywood actors, including Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit, Ranveer Singh, Hrithik Roshan, Rani Mukherjee, Alia Bhat, Disha Patani, corporate honchos, investment bankers and cricketers have bought luxury apartments and registered their deals in the last few months.
