Tamil Nadu minister lays foundation for TNUHDB projects

Minister of youth welfare and sports development, Udhayanidhi Stalin laid the foundation stone for the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board’s (TNUHDB) three new projects including 2,364 flats at a total cost of 409.74 crore on Saturday.

The projects included 61.20 crore worth 324 new flats in Koiyathoppu project and 240 new flats in Chetpet Meenaambal Sivaraj for 41.3 crore project and 1,800 flats in Kotturpuram for 307.24 crore.

Older apartments in these areas were built in the 1970s which were in dilapidated conditions. The older dwellings were removed and foundation stone for new flats were laid on Saturday.

Micro, small and medium enterprises department minister T M Anbarasan said that 15,000 new houses will be constructed at an estimated cost of 2,400 crore in the financial years 2021-2022 and 2022-2023.

The works will be completed in 18 months and will be handed over to the existing residents. The rest of the flats will be given to economically weaker sections.
