NHAI has planned to build a second flyover at the junction of Outer Ring Road on KRS Road. The first flyover was constructed a few years ago at the Hinkal ORR junction on Hunsur Road. The flyover is expected to resolve the routine traffic snarls on the intersection of multiple and very busy roads.
Chief Engineer at NHAI, Vijay Kumar, informed that the traffic density on the stretch has gone up substantially with the coming up of new layouts, colleges and industries.
The six-lane 42-km long ORR is part of NH-275 as the MUDA transferred the ring road to NHAI. DPR is also being prepared for the construction of a third flyover at the ORR junction near Columbia Asia Hospital on the Bengaluru-Mysore National Highway. As per the new DPR, there will be another flyover between Bhande Plot Chowk and Shitlamata Mandir Chowk with entry and exit ramps at six locations — Kamal Chowk, Pachpaoli ROB, Daga Hospital, Ashok Chowk, Sakkardara Chowk and Shitlamata Mandir Chowk.
The existing railway-over-bridge (ROB) at Pachpaoli will be replaced with the newer one and also near Kamal Chowk, the flyover section coming from Pachpaoli side will extend for 300 metres and end before Chamar nullah.
