RHB focuses on building HIG homes in 18 districts towns

The board has planned to build 4,386 projects in around 18 district towns of the state against only 1,546 within the city limits.

To maintain a balance between Jaipur and other important cities and towns in the state, the Rajasthan Housing Board’s primary focus will be on the districts for the next few years.

The board has planned to build 4,386 projects in around 18 district towns of the state against only 1,546 within the city limits. What’s more? A huge number of the projects coming up in the districts will be of HIG and premium categories.

“Till now, we had constructed around 3,000 HIGs outside Jaipur and all of these HIGs had been sold out. There’s a huge demand for HIG flats even in the districts. We are hopeful that all the upcoming projects would attract bides ten times more than the number of dwelling units,” housing commissioner, Pawan Arora, told TOI.

RHB officials had claimed, since the inception of the board, it concentrated on several areas of Jaipur and in the last few years it mainly concentrated on the upcoming areas like Mansarovar and Pratap Nagar.

However, with several number of projects coming up in these two areas one after the board has decided to shift its concentration on the district cities and town, where there’s already a huge demand for complexes and luxury independent villas.

“Although the city is expanding, there’s no point in constructing properties one after one more than the present demand. If these buildings remain unsold, we will have to gradually reduce (bidding) price year after year. So, it has been decided to focus on the districts and plan projects according to the demand,” said a RHB official.

As per the initial plans Jodhpur will have the maximum number of projects in the next one and half to two years. Altogether 949 flats will come up in Jodhpur district of which 30 will be of HIG category and 146 will be of MIG-II category. However, districts like Kishangarh (40), Beawar in Ajmer district (45) and Bundi (61) will have the maximum number of HIG units.
