As many as 39,000 property holders who are yet to pay their property tax for the current financial year, will have to pay a penalty on the tax amount if they don’t clear the dues by December 31.
A 10% penalty will be charged on the tax amount from January 1, 2023, till March 31, 2023. From April, the residents will have to pay 20% penalty and 18% per annum interest on the delayed payment.
Commissioner, Ludhiana municipal corporation Sheena Aggarwal appealed to residents to pay the tax for the current financial year on time and avoid penalty.
The tax collected from residents is used for providing basic amenities and development of the city, she said.
Apart from MC zonal suvidha kendras, residents can also submit tax online at mcludhiana(dot)gov(dot)in.
The municipal corporation had earned Rs 61.64 crore in property tax from April 1 to November 30 last year, which increased to Rs 88.93 crore during the same period this year.
