Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially launched the Paytm Payments Bank Wallet & Transit Card for NaMo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) stations. This innovative move empowers millions of commuters in Delhi-NCR by providing a National Common Mobility Card (NCMC), offering an all-in-one solution for their daily payment needs.
The Paytm Payments Bank Limited, an indigenous financial institution, has partnered exclusively with the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) as the official issuer of the National Common Mobility Card. Prime Minister Modi unveiled this card at Sahibabad station in Uttar Pradesh, emphasising the government’s vision of a unified payment solution for everyday transactions, including travel, in-store purchases, and online shopping.
This significant collaboration allows customers to purchase the Paytm Payments Bank Wallet & Transit Card at any NCRTC NaMo Bharat RRTS station. Furthermore, the card is NCMC-enabled, making it universally accepted at a wide array of merchants and operators across the country.
One of the highlights of this card is the fully digital application process developed by Paytm Payments Bank Limited. This simplicity ensures that users can easily manage their daily expenses, whether for their commute or other transactions.
Speaking about this partnership, Surinder Chawla, MD & CEO of Paytm Payments Bank Limited, stated, “With Paytm Payments Bank Wallet & Transit Card, we are solving the urban mobility problems for millions of customers across the country. We are glad to partner with NCRTC as the exclusive issuer of Paytm Payments Bank Wallet & Transit Card at all stations of NaMo Bharat RRTS. The card will enable commuters across NCR with the ability of having one card catering to all their daily payment needs across various multi-mode transport operators, online shopping merchants, etc.”
The Paytm Payments Bank Wallet & Transit Card is the bank’s second product in the mass transit category after FASTags, which have already gained significant adoption nationwide. As one of the leading issuers and acquirer banks participating in the National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC) program, Paytm Payments Bank has issued over 1.75 crore FASTags throughout India. In addition, the bank has facilitated more than 300 toll and parking plazas across national and state highways to collect toll and parking charges digitally, establishing an interoperable nationwide payment solution.
This innovative initiative further aligns with the Indian government’s Digital India campaign, aiming to provide a convenient and unified digital ecosystem for citizens’ everyday financial and travel needs.
