The municipal corporation (MC) on Tuesday sealed three private properties for non-payment of their property tax dues of Rs 60 lakh.
A team led by deputy municipal commissioner (DMC) Deepak Sura on the directions of the MC commissioner carried out the drive. The three buildings are shop-cum-office (SCO) 264 in Sector 14 having Rs 11.70L dues; SCO 43 in Sector 11 having Rs 17.956 lakh dues and SCO 20 in Sector 11 that has not paid Rs 31.23 lakh tax.
Sura said all three defaulters ignored notices sent to pay the tax.
Sura said, “We have started a special drive against tax defaulters. Our aim is to recover Rs 10 crore pending tax from defaulters within 15 days.” “We request property owners to pay the tax on time to avoid sealing,” he added.
On October 14, Haryana assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta conducted a surprise visit at the MC office and directed the officials to run a special drive and collect all taxes pending.
One of the senior MC officials said, “The taxes collected are used for the development of the city and since the Haryana government has asked all municipal corporations to generate funds for running the civic body, we have stepped up our special drive.”
