On Sunday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the Antyodaya Gruha Yojana, a housing initiative aimed at supporting the economically weaker sections of society, in Kalahandi district., in Kalahandi district.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared in 2018 that every individual would receive a permanent residence. Initiatives such as the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (both urban and rural) are currently in progress. We are enhancing the housing initiative with the introduction of the Antyodaya Gruha Yojana, Majhi stated during the event at Risigaon in Kalahandi. On the day of the launch, work orders for 60,000 homes were issued. The objective is to build over 500,000 houses within the next three years. This year, a budget of Rs 2,600 crore has been set aside, with an investment of Rs 7,550 crore planned for the subsequent three years.
Under the scheme, each beneficiary will receive Rs 1.20 lakh, and it will be converged with other schemes to provide essential facilities. Toilets from the Swachh Bharat Mission, cooking gas from the Ujjwala Yojana, clean drinking water from the Jal Jeevan Mission, and electricity connections from the Saubhagya Yojana will be provided, govt sources said.
Furthermore, beneficiaries will have access to unskilled labor opportunities for a duration of 90 to 95 days through the MGNREGS.The poorest and most helpless in society will benefit from the scheme.Special attention will be given to families impacted by severe illnesses, widows, families of martyrs, and those affected by natural disasters such as floods and cyclones. Immediate housing support will be extended to families dealing with cancer, leprosy, kidney disease, liver cirrhosis, thalassemia, or HIV, as well as to orphans and the homeless under the Antyodaya scheme,” stated the Chief Minister.
He further said to provide housing to more people, the definition of family and pucca house has been simplified.Structures with roofs made of asbestos, tin, or tiles are now classified as temporary. Only those houses featuring cement walls and reinforced concrete roofs are deemed permanent. The definition of family has been streamlined to encompass a husband, wife, dependent parents, and children.
He said under PMAY (rural), 23 lakh houses were built in the state while construction of 4 lakh units is underway.Fulfilling demands of the people of Kalahandi, concrete lining work of the left canal of the Indravati multipurpose irrigation project will be completed soon, he said.The CM also inaugurated projects worth Rs 617.51 crore for Kalahandi district. Panchayati raj minister Rabi Narayan Nayak, Kalahandi MP Malavika Devi and Dharamgarh MLA Sudhir Ranjan Pattjoshi were present during the launch event.
