Civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said the work of the new terminal building at the Kolhapur airport would be completed and inaugurated soon.
Scindia is on a two-day tour of Kolhapur district as part of BJP’s Pravas scheme, as per which each minister has been allotted a Lok Sabha constituency where the party will contest in the 2024 elections.
In the past three months, Scindia has visited Kolhapur thrice. Recently, through video conferencing, he inaugurated the Kolhapur-Bengaluru-Coimbatore flight service. On Thursday, he took a Mumbai-Kolhapur flight with other passengers. He said the passengers were happy with the regular flight service between Kolhapur and the state capital.
“People were happy. I am happy that the flights are operating regularly. Soon, we will inaugurate the works at the Kolhapur airport,” said Scindia.
Meanwhile, the textile operators from Ichalkaranji have asked Scindia to start the Kolhapur-Jaipur flight service. They said that a large number of people from the textile town travel to Jaipur, while many people from Jaipur come to Kolhapur on a regular basis for business opportunities and it is time-consuming for them to travel by road or train.
