MSRDC allocates Rs 10,519 crore for ring road land acquisition

The Pune outer ring road, being developed by Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), has been allocated Rs10,519 crore for land acquisition in the interim budget presented by Maharashtra deputy chief minister and finance minister Ajit Pawar on Tuesday.

The Pune outer ring road, being developed by Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), has been allocated Rs10,519 crore for land acquisition in the interim budget presented by Maharashtra deputy chief minister and finance minister Ajit Pawar on Tuesday.

MSRDC officials confirmed that they had demanded the amount allocated in the state budget.

The officials are hopeful of completion of land acquisition by June.

A recent review meeting of MSRDC officials, Pune divisional commissioner and land acquisition officials had set a deadline of June for completion of land acquisition.

The land is being acquired in two phases — western and eastern. Almost 90% of land has been acquired for the western phase, while land acquisition will commence for the eastern phase. Along with Pune ring road, an outlay of Rs 22,225 crore for land acquisition for Virar-Alibag multimodal corridor, executed by MSRDC, also finds mention in the interim budget.

The proposed 136.80 km-long outer ring road will help in decongesting Pune roads by diverting vehicles passing through the city.
