MahaRERA to approach UDD for setting up a portal for approvals

A promoter seeking to register a project needs to submit an application for commencement certificate, one of the mandatory requisites for registering a project under the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) Act.

The MahaRERA will approach the state’s urban development department (UDD) for setting up a dedicated portal for all approvals related to commencement and occupation certificates.

Currently, there is no portal which displays such permissions. A promoter seeking to register a project needs to submit an application for commencement certificate, one of the mandatory requisites for registering a project under the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) Act. Citizens said that the facility will enable easy verification of certificates by both buyers of real estate projects and MahaRERA.

Chairman of Maharashtra Society Welfare Association Ramesh Prabhu told that if the direction of MahaRERA is implemented by the urban development department across Maharashtra, it will be a game changer.

“In Mumbai, the sanctioned plans are available on the ‘citizens search’ menu of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation. Similar facilities are not available in other areas,” he said.

Advocate Shreekrishna Parab, expert director, Maharashtra State Housing Federation, told that instead of separate portals for various authorities, the state should promote a single window system where a programme based on Development Control and Promotion Regulations (DCPR) should be created for approvals and registration under MahaRERA.

The urban development department, however, did not respond to the query on the single window portal.
