The Delhi government’s Village Development Board on Monday sanctioned 136 schemes to improve roads, water bodies, drains, community centres, parks, playgrounds and other infrastructure in villages. Development Minister Gopal Rai said a budget of Rs 175 crore has been set aside for the implementation of the schemes and instructed officers to complete the projects in time.
“The government will take all necessary steps to improve the condition of roads, parks, small drains and multipurpose community halls in all villages,” Rai said after chairing a meeting of the Village Development Board at the Delhi Secretariat.
He also directed the Irrigation and Flood Control Department, the primary agency for village development works, to expedite preparation of estimates and execution of the sanctioned projects.
