Building plan approvals to be made fully online in Haryana: CM

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday instructed that the entire procedure for approving building plans for both residential and commercial structures be transitioned to a fully online format to improve transparency and minimize delays.

During a meeting with the Urban Local Bodies Department held here, Saini emphasized the necessity of clearly defining timelines and establishing accountability among officials to guarantee timely approvals. He also assessed the Urban Challenge Fund and the forthcoming development projects under the scheme.

The chief minister highlighted the importance of enhancing wastewater reuse systems in urban regions and directed officials to optimize the utilization of treated water from sewage treatment plants (STPs) for the irrigation of parks, industrial applications, and agricultural purposes. He stated that sufficient infrastructure, including pipelines from STPs to end-use locations, should be developed. Officials reported that all new STPs in the state will incorporate reuse systems.

Saini further instructed the compilation of comprehensive data regarding the existing sewerage network and mentioned that the infrastructure should be redesigned with consideration for the increasing population in various areas. Taking a firm stance on delays, he asserted that no delays in development projects would be accepted and mandated that all initiatives be completed within the established timelines. He cautioned against any delays following the allotment of tenders and urged contractors to guarantee quality work within the specified deadlines.

The chief minister was informed that GIS mapping of approximately 16,000 km of roads has been finalized and that complaints are being addressed through the ‘Mhari Sadak’ application. He instructed officials to ensure that roads are free of potholes and warned of consequences in cases of negligence.

Officials indicated that 2,276 roads have been identified in urban areas, with 1,144 set to be constructed at a cost of Rs 510.34 crore, while 1,083 roads covering 591.51 km will be reconstructed at a cost of Rs 594.91 crore. Additionally, 49 roads will undergo patchwork. Saini affirmed that the government is dedicated to enhancing infrastructure and ensuring the timely completion of development projects.
