Bengaluru metro Pink Line may open by March 2025

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited has set March 2025 as the deadline for starting commercial operations on the Pink Line from Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara (21.3km).

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL )has set March 2025 as the deadline for starting commercial operations on the Pink Line from Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara (21.3km).

As part of the Pink Line, the agency is also building a 13.8km tunnel network from Dairy Circle to Nagawara.

BMRCL managing director Anjum Parwez said 80% of the tunnel work has already been completed. The agency had taken up underground Metro work under four packages to build the twin tunnels and stations. Nine tunnel-boring machines were deployed; five of them have completed their task and the remaining four are on the job.

Tunnelling work for more than 4.5km (Vellara Junction to Pottery Town) is almost over. From Dairy Circle to Vellara Junction, 80% of the work is over, and 54% of work has been completed between Tannery Road and Nagawara. Parwez said: “Rest of the works, are going at a good pace. Our aim is to open the entire Pink Line in one go.”

On Friday, deputy chief minister D K Shivakumar inspected the ongoing Metro tunnel work at MG Road and Lakkasandra. The minister said many challenges are involved in this and work is going on at a good pace.

Trial runs on the two missing links of the Purple Line will start on July 22. BMRCL has decided to start them from KR Puram to  Byappanahalli  and  Kengeri  to  Challaghatta  simultaneously.
