Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari sought Gadkari’s help and assistance in expediting key infrastructure projects in Assam.
The Chief Minister sought Gadkari’s help and assistance in expediting key infrastructure projects in Assam such as underwater tunnel between Gohpur and Numaligarh; Guwahati Ring Road; Kaziranga Elevated Corridor and 4 laning of various NH stretches in the State.
The Union Minister assured that his Ministry would extend all possible help and assistance in expediting the key infrastructure projects in Assam.
Later, taking to Twitter handle, the Chief Minister said, “Meeting Hon’ble Union Minister Shri @nitin_gadkari ji is always enriching, so much to learn. I sought his assistance in expediting the key infra projects in Assam – underwater tunnel between Gohpur and Numaligarh; Guwahati Ring Road; Kaziranga Elevated Corridor and 4 laning of various NH stretches in the State.”
Meanwhile four numbers of healthy food streets will come up each in Assam, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Maharashtra as part of a pilot project initiated by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affair.
Such healthy food streets will come up one each in Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.
The aim of this project is to encourage safe and healthy practices to reduce food-borne illnesses and improve overall health outcomes. The initiative is being taken up as a pilot project to create an example for best practices for food businesses.
Each food street will be provided Rs.1 crore as financial assistance.
Such food streets will generate local employment opportunities, improving tourism potential and boosting the economy.
The initiative will be implemented through the National Health Mission (NHM) in convergence with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and with technical support from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
The project envisages 100 such food streets in 100 districts across the country. Assistance will be provided under the NHM in the ratio of 60:40 or 90:10, with a rider that standard branding of these food streets will be done as per FSSAI guidelines.
Training of food handlers, independent third-party audits, and certification of Eat Right Street Food Hubs, and developing a standard procedure for modernisation of food streets would be carried out.
States and Union Territories can also conduct training programmes for street vendors on food safety, maintenance of hygiene, and waste disposal.
