Assam Approves Rs 4,360 Crore To Enhance Bridges’ Infrastructure

The Assam Cabinet on Wednesday, approved the proposed Assam State Bridge Infrastructure Project (ASBIP). The ASBIP will encompass 1085 minor and major maintenance of bridges, capacity expansion of bridges, conversion of timber bridges to RCC bridges etc, read a Assam Government release on social media.

Under the project, the Public Works Department (PWD) will build new bridges, and will also replace old wooden bridges with concrete structures. An amount of Rs 4,360 crore has been approved by the Cabinet for this project.

With this approval, the PWD can now start working on 1085 concrete bridges in Assam.

The Cabinet meeting was held under the chairmanship of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Later, after the meeting, State Public Relations Minister, Pijush Hazarika informed the media about the Cabinet decisions.
