WABAG for Clean Ganga project- Bihar Govt.

VA TECH WABAG, a Chennai based water technology services provider has bagged a Rs 1,187 crores order from Bihar Government to build sewage treatment plants and sewerage networks of over 450 km as part of a national mission to clean the Ganga river.

VA TECH WABAG, a Chennai based water technology services provider has bagged a Rs 1,187 crores order from Bihar Government to build sewage treatment plants and sewerage networks of over 450 km as part of a national mission to clean the Ganga river.

Wabag in a press release said that the plants will have a capacity of 150 million litres a day. The network is to cover the Digha and Kankarbagh zones of Patna which is amongst the most populated cities located on the banks of Ganga. The project also comprises of a Design, Build and Operate (‘DBO’) scope of Rs 940 crores and hybrid annuity scope worth around Rs 247 crores.

The sewage treatment capacity will be split as 100 and 50 MLD between Digha and Kankarbagh respectively, and other funds will be allocated for diversion, and building of new sewerage networks and associated activities.

For the maintenance and operations of the STPs and the sewerage infrastructure, the WABAG will be responsible for 15 years. The project will be implemented by BUIDCO with financial assistance from the World Bank under the NMCG, said the release.

The Director & Chief Growth Officer, Mr. Varadarajan S, commented that Wabag will now be responsible for sewerage infrastructure in 4 out of the 6 zones of Patna, thus testifying the trust reposed by NMCG and BUIDCO on WABAG.

WABAG’s shares traded up nearly 3.94% at Rs 303.4 on the NSE after announcement of the order win today.
