The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has asked beneficiaries of various housing schemes in the city to clear pending dues towards instalments of the houses awarded to them.
For thousands of houses constructed across the city under various projects over the years, beneficiaries have not been able to pay their pending amounts.
On Thursday, the civic body issued a public notice to the beneficiaries asking them to repay these outstanding amounts.
The notice on Thursday pertains to 24 different housing schemes where money has not been deposited by beneficiaries. Sources said that the total amount due for these schemes itself totals to more than Rs 100 crore. The schemes for which the notice was brought out on Thursday include 22 developed under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission and two under the Rajiv Aavas Yojana.
VMC will give an opportunity to the beneficiaries to make their point from June 13 to 16. It has set June 30 as the deadline for the beneficiaries to deposit their pending amounts. It has stated that the allotment of houses will be cancelled after this if the money is not received.
