Structural strengthening techniques for existing building and structures

Structural strengthening may be required for existing concrete building structures for the increased load capacity of beams, columns, walls, and/or slabs, and for supporting additional live or dead loads not included in the original design. It is also required to relieve stresses generated by design or construction errors or for the restoration of the original load capacity of damaged structural elements.

Sanrachana India provides a multitude of structural strengthening services that include different techniques for the repair of existing concrete structures. They are committed to taking responsibility for the projects by giving due consideration to budgets, schedules, service life or any other unique structural requirement and completing the projects in a safe, planned and professional manner.

Structural strengthening techniques for existing building and structures provided by Sanrachana India

GPR Scanning

The company provides Ground Penetrating Radar and Ferro scan equipment for old concrete buildings and structures. This equipment scans the RCC element of the old concrete surface and determines the location and sizes of rebars to a depth of up to 300 mm. The output of the scans is readily available on site which is collected after analysing the top view, section view or 3-D form. This scan details analysis helps during structural modification needed for an existing structure and it also helps to decide the exact location for core and cuts required requirements of the structure.

Epoxy injection

The company utilizes the epoxy injection technique to repair cracks in buildings and structures. Cracks are traced and opened in v groove manner, cleaned and sealed with epoxy putty and grouting nozzles non return type are fixed at specified intervals which later are injected with epoxy grout under pressure till rejection

FRP Composite System – PT and Non-PT

FRP Systems are used to enhance the structural capacity of members in shear, flexure, compression, to aid in blast mitigation, upgrades for seismic loads and to control the propagation of existing cracks. The company designs retrofit systems and provides application solutions with Glass, Glass Aramid composite and High strength carbon fabric systems woven in uni-direction, bi-direction and diagonal pattern with density ranging up to 1200 GSM with wet layup system.

FRP Laminate Systems -PT and Non-PT

CFRP high strength composite Laminates are applied in grooves or on the surface of RCC elements with a structural grade epoxy adhesive system. These laminates can be applied in two forms either with prestressing or non-prestressed normal application. Sanrachana has effectively installed pultruded laminate systems with thicknesses of up to 4.2 mm. They also install high-strength CFRP/ GFRP rod systems of diameter up to 12 mm which are either fixed in drill holes or grooves filled with epoxy adhesives.

Fiber-mesh Reinforced cementitious mortar (FRCM)

Fiber-mesh Reinforced cementitious mortar (FRCM) system involves a specially treated fiber mesh sandwiched in between a special grade high strength inorganic repair mortar. The company has trained applicators to apply FRCM layups in layers of about 6 to 8 mm thickness each over damaged structural elements. The High strength, lightweight and non-corrosive FRCM system result in long-lasting repairs. This is a durable alternative to the GI mesh-based grunting system which is used to degrade easily due to corrosion.

Sectional enlargement of RCC structure

Sanrachana works with conventional ways of increasing the structural capacity by increasing the effective cross-sectional area of RCC members. New additional reinforcement is provided along with shear connectors at specific intervals of structures. The company provides three types of services, RCC Jacketing of Columns, Epoxy chemical anchor and overlay for RCC Slab.

Micro reinforced Jacketing

The company provides sections enlargement or reinstatement involving thickness ranging from 40 to 100 mm thick is generally done with high strength self-leveling and compacting micro concrete mixes. Reinforcement is provided in the form of a regular rebar cage, hard wire stainless steel mesh or metallic fibers dispersed in the micro concrete mix. Shear keys are provided as usual for effective transfer of load.

Special metal alloy strengthening

Sanrachana India designs and installs special high-strength metal alloy near-surface reinforcements Plates of the strength of up to 600 Mpa and in lengths of up to 12 meters and varying widths are installed as per site requirements. Enough stocks are maintained all around the year to cater to client’s immediate requirements.

Sanrachana India is one of the few organizations poised to provide a wide spectrum of structural strengthening service offerings to clients supported by a strong workforce of over 300 persons. It is headquartered in Thane and has branch offices in Kolkata, Delhi along with a network of representatives in 20 metro cities.
