Residents of Sare Homes in Sector 92 have approached H-Rera alleging that the builder embezzled funds received for electricity bills and used it for other purposes. They have demanded that the builder’s accounts be freezed and financial audits be conducted.
Sare Homes RWA president Praveen Malik said even after receiving payment in advance from residents, the builder, Ramprastha Sare, failed to pay the electricity bills to discom DHBVN on time, due to which electricity has been disconnected several times. As a result, residents are forced to shell out more for supply from diesel gensets, Malik said.
The developer’s office did not respond to calls by TOI.
Around 1500 families live in the township. Malik, who filed a complaint with H-Rera on behalf of the residents on Friday, said residents of Sare Homes Phase 1 and Phase 2 formed an RWA in April 2019, which is maintaining common area facilities since then, but the builder hasn’t officially handed over maintenance to them till date.
“The project comprises of five phases. Electricity is still under the scope of the builder. There is a common electricity meter for the whole township, and DHBVN releases a common bill for usage in the whole township. As the builder doesn’t pay the bills on time, the discom often disconnects supply,” he said.
Residents also requested H-Rera to take up the matter with DHBVN and Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission and sought the installation of a separate meter for phases 1and 2.
“Resident of phases 1 and 2 have prepaid meters for electricity, under which we have to make advance payment to the builder’s facility account at Rs 6.7/unit for discom supply and Rs 20/unit for power from diesel gensets. The builder also disconnects supply if a flat owner’s account has negative balance. There is no such system for other phases, but electricity is being continuously used for those areas as well,” said Aditya Jakhar, another resident.
