The Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Bhajanlal Sharma, has sanctioned the comprehensive project report for Phase-2 of the Jaipur Metro and forwarded it to the central government, as stated in an official announcement on Wednesday. Construction is set to commence upon approval of the report by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
The initiation of Phase 2 of the Jaipur Metro was included in the state budget for 2025-26. This project, spanning 42.80 kilometers from Todi Mode to Prahladpura, will be executed by the Rajasthan Metro Rail Corporation, a newly established joint venture between the state and central governments, which will oversee all existing and future metro initiatives in Jaipur.
Financial institutions are expected to provide a loan for this project, which is projected to cost approximately Rs 12,260 crore. Upon completion, this segment of the Jaipur Metro will feature 36 stations, including two underground stations. This corridor aims to link significant residential, commercial, educational, and industrial zones within the city, such as the VKI Industrial Area and the Sitapura Industrial Area.
