Plan to develop 5 railway stations in Bhusawal division

The railway is planning to redevelop five major railway stations in Bhusawal Division—Nashik Road, Bhusawal Amravati, Akola, and Khandwa—at an estimated cost of Rs 100 crore.

The Railways has drawn up a plan to redevelop five major railway stations in Bhusawal division —Nashik Road, Bhusawal, Amravati, Akola and Khandwa — at an estimated cost of Rs 100 crore.

The project has been taken up by the railway land development authority (RLDA), a wing of the railway ministry. Bhusawal railway officials said the redevelopment of Nashik Road station will involve two parts – the first part will be to develop space on the Sinnar-side of the station as part of the proposed multi-modal hub (MMH) with Maharail, Mahametro and Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) at the estimated cost of Rs 1,500 crore while the second is the redevelopment of existing administrative building with offices, basic passenger amenities and commercial establishments.

Both projects will be interlinked and people can switch over to the required mode of transport seamlessly.

The MMH is being discussed and planned at the Sinnar-side area of the station where the land of the railways along with NMC’s will be developed by all four parties. “The discussions were held in the last week about preparing the DPR and other modules. The MMH will have the interconnectivity between all three modes of transport including the Nashik-Pune semi-high speed railway, the existing railway route, the Metro Neo and the Citilinc transportation ensuring,” said the senior officer from Bhusawal divisional railway office.

The officer said the administrative building of the railway station on Nashik city-side of the railway station will also be developed with four other stations. “Since the development module is underway for the current administrative building, there is no permanent developmental work being carried out at the main building that falls at Nashik city side of the railway station,” the officer said.

The plan is to develop three to five-storey administrative buildings across these five stations that will not only house all important offices at these stations but also state-of-the-art passenger amenities would also be established.

“The buildings will also have commercial establishments so that the maintenance of the building will also be taken care of from the proceeds coming through the leased spaces to the private parties,” the officer said.
