The Odisha State Housing Board (OSHB) and the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) have jointly allocated more than 1,600 plots and houses through various housing initiatives in the capital city over the last thirty years.

In response to a question posed by legislator Manorama Mohanty, state housing and urban development minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra provided this information during the state assembly session. As per the response, the OSHB has allocated 692 plots and houses across two significant schemes.

Among these, 460 units categorized as MIG and HIG were distributed under the Satyasai Enclave scheme located in Mouza Aiginia, while 232 HIG units were assigned under the Dharma Vihar scheme in Mouza Jagamara. The BDA, for its part, has made considerable allocations under various housing projects.

In the Pokhariput housing scheme, 67 MIG houses, 72 HIG (single) houses, and 30 HIG (duplex) houses were distributed. “Under the Ananata Housing Scheme Phase-II, the BDA allocated 160 MIG houses, 63 HIG duplex units, and 13 plots, while Phase-III resulted in the distribution of 100 MIG houses and 39 LIG houses to various allottees,” the response states. Additionally, in the Lingaraj Vihar joint venture housing scheme at Mouza Bhimpur, the BDA allocated 108 houses, while Keshari Estate Pvt Ltd contributed 321 houses, bringing the total for the joint venture to 429 units.

The total allocations by the BDA across its schemes exceed 650 units, not including the share from the joint venture partner. Both the BDA and the OSHB are actively working on similar forthcoming projects in the city.

Importantly, the OSHB is implementing another plotting scheme in Jagannath Prasad, which includes 166 plots of varying sizes. Although there has been a delay in delivering the plots in a developed state, once completed, a substantial number of individuals will benefit.

Likewise, the BDA is undertaking its largest housing project to date in Subuddhipur, named Ekamra Residency, which consists of over 700 units. Furthermore, the BDA is expected to announce a plotting scheme in the city in the near future.
