The Navi Mumbai Airport Influence Notified Area (NAINA) Project in Maharashtra has awarded an order to Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Transportation Infrastructure for the Integrated Infrastructure Development project in Town Planning Schemes 2 through 7.
According to the release, the project would have four 13.28-kilometer approach roads with nine major structures—three steel bridges that span the Kalundre River and the Mumbai-Pune Expressway—as well as twelve minor bridges, twenty-seven underpasses, and approaches to the structures. Utility and related electrical work construction is also a part of the project.
The City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra Limited (CIDCO) has granted the project for the construction of numerous large and minor structures, linked electrical works, and integrated infrastructure development of 60- and 45-meter wide highways, release said.
The Maharashtra government has set in motion the process to develop Third Mumbai, a large mega township that would be close to the Mumbai Trans-Harbour Link (MRHL) and off the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA).
The New Town Development Authority (NTDA) would carry out the project, with the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) serving as the main agency.
The Third Mumbai would consist of 124 villages spread across 323.44 square kilometers: 80 villages from the Navi Mumbai Airport Influence Notified Area (NAINA), 33 villages from Khopta New Town Notified Area (KNTNA), two villages from the Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Plan (MMRP), and nine villages from the Raigad Regional Plan (RRP).
