As many as 12,000 property owners in the city availed a concession on fines imposed for property tax dues under a scheme launched by the civic body.
The scheme offered an 80% concession on fines valid until Feb 28. 12,000 property owners collectively received a total concession of Rs11.83 crore, paying a total of Rs19 crore.
With the financial year ending on March 31, KMC is making efforts to recover dues in order to strengthen the civic body’s finances. Property tax is a major revenue source for the corporation and KMC has set a target of Rs101 crore from property tax alone.
