The trial run of Metro train, whose three coaches were brought to Indore around a week ago, is now likely to take place in the last week of this month.
According to official sources, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan would flag off the trial run of Indore Metro that was earlier expected to take place by Sept 15. The date has been extended due to ongoing and forthcoming events including ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public address in Bhopal on Sept 25 and two-day India Smart Cities Award Contest (ISAC 2022) which will be held in Indore on Sept 27-28 and would be attended by President Draupadi Murmu.
Festivals like Janmashtami, Ganesh Chaturthi, Anant Chaturdashi and India-Australia ODI match in Indore on Sept 24 are stated to be other factors for extending the date of Metro’s trial run.
“We have sought chief minister’s time to flag off the trial run of Indore Metro and based on availability of the dates, it is likely to be organized in the last week of this month,” MPMRCL additional managing director and IMC Commissioner Harshika Singh said.
According to senior MPMRCL officials, the track is ready while all three coaches of the train have been assembled. Besides, remaining work on 5.8 km-long super priority corridor is being carried out on war-footing. The same will be ready in April next year to facilitate Metro’s commercial run.
