Coimbatore corporation to conduct special camps to collect taxes

Corporation commissioner M Prathap said the tax collection centres will function in the usual timings on Saturday and Sunday as well.

 The city corporation will conduct special camps to collect taxes in various wards on Saturday and Sunday (January 28 and 29) to help residents pay property tax, vacant land tax, professional tax and water and underground drainage charges.

Residents could make use of the opportunity and pay their taxes before March 31, when the financial year would end.

Revenue officials said the special camps were being conducted for the second consecutive week. Last weekend, ₹37 lakh was collected through the special camps. This weekend, special camps would be held at Ondipudur corporation school for wards 56 and 57; Nehru Nagar corporation school for ward 7; Karpaga Vinayagar Temple at Manjeeswari Colony, Kavundampalayam, for ward 34; and at Buvaneshwari Amman Temple in Balaji Nagar, Vadavalli, for ward 38 on both Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday, camps would also be held at VNR Nagar for ward 40; Sai Nagar and Gandhi Nagar for ward 98; Housing unit II and Pillaiyarpuram for ward 97; Janata Nagar corporation school for ward 11; Subramanipalayam corporation complex for ward 15; Rathinapuri Children’s Park for ward 32; corporation complex on 80ft road for ward 63; and at Dargath Islam school at GM Nagar for ward 84.

On Sunday, the special camps would be conducted at the Ponnaiyarajapuram ward office for ward 73 and Periyathottam Colony for ward 40 as well.
