The Central Railway will run 18 special trains to accommodate the surge in passenger demand during the long weekend, which includes Independence Day and Raksha Bandhan. The trains are scheduled to operate from August 15 to 20, connecting major destinations across the region.
The special trains will serve the following routes:
- LTT Mumbai-Nagpur: 2 services
- LTT Mumbai-Madgaon: 4 services
- CSMT Mumbai-Kolhapur: 2 services
- Pune-Nagpur: 4 services
- Kalaburagi-Bengaluru: 6 services
Chief Public Relations Officer of Central Railway Swapnil Nila highlighted that these special trains are being introduced to offer more travel options for passengers during the festive period. “Given the increased demand, CR decided to run these special trains to ensure convenient travel for everyone,” Nila said.Reservations for these special trains are already available at all computerised reservation centres and on the IRCTC website. Passengers are encouraged to book their tickets early to secure their travel plans for the festive period.
