BMW Industries intends to set up a new downstream steel manufacturing facility in Bokaro, Jharkhand, with a total investment amounting to Rs 803.47 crore. This initiative is designed to capitalize on the company’s expertise in steel processing while addressing the increasing domestic demand.

The funding for the project will be sourced from a mix of internal accruals and debt. The planned greenfield facility is projected to have an annual production capacity of 3,00,000 tonnes of cold rolled full hard coils/sheets, 5,40,000 tonnes of galvanised coils/sheets, and 2,00,000 tonnes of colour-coated coils/sheets.

Situated on industrial land already owned by the company, the plant will begin operations in phases over the next two years, with the initial facility anticipated to start commercial production in FY26.

The project site is strategically located approximately 300 km from the ports of Haldia and Kolkata, providing excellent connectivity to international markets while being in proximity to raw material sources, thereby enhancing supply chain efficiency. The company has obtained the necessary consent to establish the facility from the Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board.

As stated by the Board of Directors, this expansion will reinforce BMW Industries’ position in downstream steel processing, enhance market reach, and generate long-term value for stakeholders.
