Andhra govt. approves Rs 1,172-cr Chilakapalem-Rayagada road

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has sanctioned the development of a four-lane underpass at the Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR) junction, designed similarly to the Metro Cinema underpass located at Marine Lines.

This initiative is intended to alleviate severe traffic congestion, especially during peak hours, while ensuring safe and accident-free pedestrian crossings. Administrative approval has been secured, and a consultant has been appointed to accelerate the project. This decision was reached during a high-level meeting led by Mumbai North West MP Ravindra Waikar and BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani, which assessed more than 30 civic and infrastructure matters.

Among the significant outcomes, the Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Trauma Hospital will be linked with Cooper Hospital, with its ICU capacity increasing from 12 to 22 beds due to the appointment of new doctors. Regarding redevelopment, the Topiwala Market is expected to be completed by June 2026, with tenders for the Versova and Yari Road markets to be issued shortly.
