Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has extended till April 10 the deadline for revenue officials to submit detailed reports of illegal ‘A’ khatas.
Earlier, the civic agency had instructed them to prepare detailed reports on allegations that ‘B’ khata properties were illegally changed to ‘A’ khata. The reports were to be submitted to a review committee by 3pm on March 24.
However, the Palike has extended the deadline considering that all the revenue officials will be fully engaged in collecting property tax at the end of the financial year. BBMP has warned officials of departmental disciplinary action and criminal cases if any illegal ‘A’ khata properties are not listed in their reports intentionally.
On January 4, the civic body received a complaint from former councillor NR Ramesh alleging irregularities in converting ‘B’ khata properties into ‘A’ khata ones. The Palike formed a review committee on February 21 to verify all illegal ‘A’ khata properties.
Jayaram Raipura, special commissioner (finance), BBMP, stated in an order issued on Friday that deputy commissioners of all zones should ensure that revenue officials complete the reports and submit them within the time limit.
