The Energy Efficiency Services Ltd has in principle agreed to support the state government to user in a new era of energy efficiency under the ‘Navaratnalu – Pedalandariki Illu’ programme.
According to officials, the beneficiaries will be supplied with cost effective energy-efficient appliances on a voluntary basis. The state housing department has been in talks with EESL about this energy efficient project and wants to make this as the biggest EE programme in the country.
During a review meeting on the ‘Jagananna Colonies’ housing scheme with housing development corporation managing director G Lakshmisha, joint director Siva Prasad, and senior officers from EESL Delhi Animesh Mishra and Nitin Bhutt, special chief secretary (housing) Ajay Jain said that the department is keen on utilising the services of EESL.
“AP is the only state to take such an innovative step, showcasing an unprecedented step to reduce electricity bills and promote sustainable development practices among its beneficiaries. The housing department, entrusted with the implementation of the ‘Navaratnalu- Pedalandariki Illu’ project, has so far grounded 20.45 lakh housing units. The state government is firm on completing around 5 lakh units by this month end,” said Ajay Jain.
“The state government extended loans to over 12 lakh beneficiaries, totalling to 4,288 crore. The government also sanctioned 3,266 crore under the Jal Jeevan Mission to provide water supply in 9,332 housing layouts. With a focus on providing not just shelter but safe, decent, and affordable homes, chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy aims to transform the lives of deserving families and turn their dreams into reality,” added Ajay Jain.
