Odisha govt. to utilize HUDCO's UiWIN for affordable housing projects

On Friday, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu established an ambitious goal of constructing 1.7 million houses within the next three years as part of the Housing for All initiative and instructed officials to expedite construction efforts.

He emphasized that mass housewarming ceremonies should occur every three months, commencing from Ugadi, with a target of completing 500,000 housewarmings each quarter. While reviewing the progress with officials from TIDCO and the Housing Department, Naidu reaffirmed the coalition government’s dedication to fulfilling its electoral promise of providing housing for every eligible family by 2029. “Since assuming office, we have initiated the construction of 2 million houses, of which 300,000 have been completed.

The remaining 1.7 million must be finalized within the next three years,” he stated. Additional financial assistance is being provided to SC, ST, BC, and PVTG communities under PMAY 1.0, along with an extra ₹50,000 for 18,000 beneficiaries from the Muslim minority. Naidu also urged officials to engage with the Centre to resolve outstanding housing bills amounting to ₹920 crore under the NTR Rural Housing Scheme, which he claimed were obstructed by the previous administration.

In a separate review meeting, Naidu instructed agriculture and marketing officials to establish food processing units in MSME parks across all 175 constituencies to enhance farmers’ incomes through value addition. He highlighted the importance of transitioning from raw produce to processed goods, asserting that this would ensure long-term benefits for cultivators. He directed officials to advocate for commercial crops, natural farming, and demand-driven agriculture while providing training to farmers in mechanization, drone technology, and satellite-based advisories.

The Farmer App should be made available to every farmer, delivering real-time information on crops, weather conditions, pests, and market prices.

Naidu voiced his concerns regarding the declining banana prices in Anantapur, Kadapa, and Nandyal, instructing horticulture officials to provide marketing support and investigate export opportunities through waterways, rail, and air cargo.

Additionally, he reprimanded the Cotton Corporation of India for delays in procurement and urged officials to request immediate intervention from the Centre to safeguard the interests of cotton growers.

The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of the forthcoming “Raitanna – Meekosam” programme (scheduled for Nov 24–29 and Dec 3), which aims to educate farmers about groundwater levels, reservoir conditions, and effective water management practices. He encouraged legislators to engage in the awareness campaign and reassured farmers of the government’s dedication to adopting technology, implementing market interventions, and ensuring income security.
