The Centre has sanctioned national highway initiatives amounting to Rs 30,425 crore in Telangana, encompassing a distance of 1,174 km, in addition to Rs 868 crore allocated from the Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) for 422 km.
Union Minister G Kishan Reddy mentioned that 26 projects are currently in the Detailed Project Report (DPR) phase, urging the state to hasten the processes of land acquisition and forest clearances.
A four-lane elevated corridor traversing the Tiger Reserve, linking Hyderabad to Srisailam, is being seriously contemplated, with night traffic on the existing route being restricted to protect wildlife.
Other significant undertakings include Rs 13,957 crore for a 161.5 km regional expressway from Girmapur to Tangadapalli, Rs 2,662 crore for 80 km on NH-167, along with various expansions and repairs on NH-63, NH-565, NH-930P, and additional routes. Projects that have faced delays due to land-related issues are anticipated to be expedited.
The Centre has underscored the importance of road safety and infrastructure enhancement, addressing local needs. Notable projects include an underpass at Hyderabad–Yadagirigutta and a cable bridge over the Krishna River.
