Advancements in VR (Virtual Reality), AR (Augmented Reality), MR (Mixed Reality) collectively referred to as XR (Extended Reality) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) have been revolutionising all aspects of a Nationās economy including Industry. While XR brings in immersive visualisation enabling hitherto unimagined ways in which training can be imparted and decisions taken in every field of Industry, AI provides unique ways to seek solutions and undertake activities which were earlier considered impossible for humans to be capable of undertaking. XR is unique in that it permits an immersive experience which mimics the userās physical presence in the computer generated virtual world. The immersive nature of this technology leads to multitude of possibilities and benefits all leading to enhanced operational efficiencies and effectiveness, better adherence to safety and quality as well as reduction in operational costs. Integration of XR with BIM or 3D Models of the facilities to be built brings immense benefits for project stakeholders such as immersive visualization of complex design and engineering aspects, enhanced construction workflows, and effective collaboration among project stakeholders.
