UMC collects over Rs 5 crore property tax on September 28

The Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC) has collected tax of more than Rs 5 crore in just one day on the occasion of National Lok Adalat on Saturday.

Jamir Lengrekar, Additional Municipal Commissioner of UMC, said, “On this special day, any property tax holder who paid his property tax dues in one day was given 100 percent concession in all late fees.”

UMC usually lags behind in tax collection, due to which there is always not enough funds available with the Municipal Corporation for the development work of the city.

But this time, the Tax Department is running a vigorous campaign for tax collection under the leadership Lengrekar and Tax Assessor and Collector Neelam Kadam. This is the reason that in just 6 months, the Municipal Corporation has collected a total tax of more than Rs 60 crore so far.

If UMC sources are to be believed, Neelam Kadam has formed teams for tax collection, which are working vigorously to get more and more people to pay
