Tvasta Manufacturing Solutions has completed India’s first 3D-printed villa for Godrej Properties at Godrej Eden Estate in Pune. The 2,200 sq. ft. G+1 structure was built entirely on-site using concrete 3D printing technology. The project was completed in four months between June and October 2024, demonstrating the application of automation in construction.
Tvasta, a deep-tech company founded in 2016 by IIT Madras alumni, focuses on automation and robotics for construction. The villa was built using a concrete 3D printer, eliminating the need for formwork and reducing material waste. The printer deposited concrete in layers, ensuring uniformity and precision. The technology enabled flexibility in design while maintaining structural strength. The automated system streamlined the workflow, reducing manual labor and errors. Robotics and digital tools played a role in optimizing construction timelines and resource use. A controlled printing process ensured consistency in material application.
The walls were printed layer by layer, meeting predefined structural requirements. The system allowed for adjustments in dimensions and design during the process. The structure was completed as planned, demonstrating the feasibility of on-site 3D printing for residential projects. Tvasta used industrial waste in its concrete mix, lowering raw material consumption. The printed walls offered improved insulation, reducing energy use for cooling and heating. The process also reduced reliance on conventional materials such as bricks and cement blocks. Tvasta continues to refine materials and methods to improve durability and efficiency. Collaboration with government agencies, academic institutions, and industry partners supports research and development, helping expand 3D printing applications in construction.
Tvasta is also working on multi-storey buildings, office spaces, and guesthouses. The company has expanded internationally, selling construction 3D printers in the US and the Middle East. The company is developing new printing technologies to support larger projects and various types of structures. Ongoing work focuses on scaling production capacity and improving automation in the construction sector.
Parivarthan Reddy, Co-Founder of Tvasta Manufacturing Solutions, stated that the company aims to expand operations and develop partnerships in the construction sector. The goal is to integrate 3D printing into mainstream construction. As the technology gains acceptance, projects like this villa highlight its potential for broader use. Tvasta’s work with Godrej Properties shows the feasibility of 3D-printed homes, setting a precedent for future projects in real estate and infrastructure.
Tvasta continues to explore opportunities for expansion, improving its technology and adapting methods to different environments. The successful completion of this project reflects the growing interest in 3D-printed structures and their potential impact on the construction industry. The company remains focused on developing efficient solutions that enhance construction speed, reduce material waste, and enable more flexible designs.
