The recent revision in guideline values across Tamil Nadu significantly boosted revenue for the state’s registration department, with an additional 1,222 crore collected in the first seven months of the current financial year compared to the past year.
According to officials from the registration department, revenue for April to Oct in 2023-2024 was 10,511 crore. During the same period in 2024-2025, the revenue increased to 11,733 crore.
This data was presented during a review meeting held by revenue and registration minister P Moorthy.
The minister directed officials to ensure registered documents are returned to applicants without delay, to streamline the registration process, and to expedite delivery of certificates and permits through the online portal.To accommodate the anticipated demand during Aippasi month, the registration department also announced additional token allocations on Nov 14 and 15.
On these dates, registration offices with one sub-registrar will issue 150 tokens instead of the usual 100, offices with two sub-registrars will offer 300 tokens, and high-demand offices will increase to 150 tokens from 100 ensuring smoother service for applicants on these busy days.
