Tamil Nadu Construction Workers Welfare Board reconstituted

The Tamil Nadu Construction Workers Welfare Board has been reconstituted by the Tamil Nadu state government after a five-year period

The Tamil Nadu Construction Workers Welfare Board has been reconstituted by the Tamil Nadu state government after a five-year period. The order came from chief minister M K Stalin.

The representatives of government departments within the welfare board include secretaries of housing, urban development, municipal administration, and water supply. Developers’ bodies like the Builders Association of India and Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India have been included as representatives of employers.

The chairman of the board, which consists of 26 members including the representatives of manual workers, is Ponkumar. He had previously served as the chairman of the board as well.

Since its tenure ended in February 2016, the Tamil Nadu Construction Workers Welfare Board, which employs about 13.4 lakh registered workers, has not yet been reconstituted as mentioned further in the press release.
