Supercity Developers office sealed for not paying Rs 6.7 crore refund

Dadri’s sub-divisional magistrate Alok Kumar Gupta said that several homebuyers in the project had moved the UP-Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP-Rera) seeking refunds from the developer for the delay in possession of their flats.

Authorities have sealed the office of realty firm Supercity Developers for failing to refund Rs 6.77 crore to homebuyers in its Mayfair Residency project in Greater Noida’s Techzone 4 despite repeated notices. Around 600 families are still awaiting possession of their homes in the society that has a total of 1,054 flats across 12 towers.

Dadri’s sub-divisional magistrate Alok Kumar Gupta said that several homebuyers in the project had moved the UP-Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP-Rera) seeking refunds from the developer for the delay in possession of their flats.

“The regulator subsequently asked the district administration to recover from the developer the money to be refunded to the buyers. Even after multiple notices, the amount was not refunded. So, the developer’s office was sealed on Wednesday. The builder has one month to settle the dues, failing which its office will be auctioned,” he said.

A spokesperson for the developer, however, told, “The case with the buyers is currently in the Allahabad high court, and we will show the papers to the administration. We believe that the administration will then de-seal our office.”

In fact, most of the buyers had invested in the project in 2011 and were promised delivery of their flats in 2015. However, seven years down the line, close to 600 families still await possession of their flats. Only around 100 families are currently living in this society.

Prateet Baijal, a resident of the society, said, “I shifted to this society in 2019. But the builder is yet to get the occupation certificate from the Greater Noida Authority and the society lacks basic facilities like proper power connection.”

For several months, homebuyers of the society had protested against the builder.
