ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Construction is the second most permeating sector and the investments in it are massive. The sector is projected to grow at an Annual Average Growth Rate of more than 6% during the period 2022-2026. The construction industry in India is expected to reach $1.4 Tn by 2025-26, as per available reports. Steel in construction accounts for about 65% of the overall consumption of steel in India. Steel therefore plays a major role in today’s gigantic and expanding construction industry.

The fraternity of investment decision makers and constructors are expressing a growing interest in the opportunities and challenges associated with sustainable steel solutions. It was therefore deemed appropriate that those concerned with the investment decisions and the executives in construction sector be apprised of the materials that offer solutions to further circular economy towards sustainable growth.

To take that further the Institute For Steel Development & Growth (INSDAG), the Consulting Engineers Association of India – Western Regional Centre (CEAI-WRC) and the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay have organised a one-day Workshop on “Steel – for Sustainable Development” on the 4th February 2023 in the VMCC at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay to promote the use of steel for buildings and infrastructure works.
