Unauthorised houses demolished by NMC and NMRDA

Six unauthorised houses constructed on the Wathoda Tarodi Khurd, where Central goverenment’s ambitious Sports Authority of India’s (SAI) regional centre is coming up, has been demolished

On Saturday, six unauthorised houses constructed on the Wathoda Tarodi Khurd, where Central government’s ambitious Sports Authority of India’s (SAI) regional centre is coming up, has been demolished by the anti-encroachment squad of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Nagpur Metro Regional Development Authority (NMRDA). 

Notices have been issued by NMRDA to 50 houses that has been constructed on about 10 acre of the 141.5 acre allotted to SAI for developing its 12th regional centre. Earlier as well, NMC has issued notices to about 250 people who had constructed their houses on these lands.

According to Sanjay Kamble, NMC Encroachment Inspector, on Saturday evening a joint team of NMC and NMRDA along with the police personnel and armed excavators reached the location. Despite of various protests from the inhabitants, they were successful in demolishing six locked houses.

The demolition drive was administered by the Assistant Municipal Commissioner of Nehru Nagar Zone, Mr. Harish Raut and Enforcement Department’s Assistant Municipal Commissioner Mr. Ashok Patil.
