Rs 537 Crore released to Connect Noida International Airport With Yamuna And Delhi-Mumbai Expressways

NHAI has sent the money in two instalments — Rs 358 crore has been released in one instalment and Rs 179 crore in the second instalment.

The International Airport in Jewar will be directly connected with the Yamuna Expressway with 750 m elevated road.

The airport will also be connected to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway through Ballabhgarh in Haryana through a 31 km expressway link.

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has released Rs 537 crore for the proposed connectivity of the Noida International Airport to the Yamuna Expressway and Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, as per reports.

The international airport in Jewar will be directly connected with the Yamuna Expressway with 750 metre elevated road.

NHAI will construct an interchange on the Yamuna Expressway at the 30th km point, where the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will intersect with the expressway.

Rs 179 crore will be spent for this road and 19 hectares of land has been provided by the administration to construct the interchange for which the work will commence soon.

Additionally, the airport will also be connected to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway through Ballabhgarh in Haryana. For this, a 31-kilometre-long expressway is being built.

Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, in 2019, instructed the NHAI to explore possibilities for connecting Jewar to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway at Ballabhgarh.

This link road will serve as a connection between the Noida International Airport and Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, along with Haryana regions.

For this significant undertaking, the Gautam Budh Nagar administration has acquired 66.73 hectares of land, compensating the farmers with Rs 260 crore.

The work on this project was started in May 2023. The authority has stated that the connection would be ready within a year of commencing work, coinciding with the expected operational date of the airport project in September 2024.

NHAI has sent the money in two instalments to the construction company, as per reports. Rs 358 crore has been released in one instalment and Rs 179 crore in the second instalment.
