Revenue minister agrees to reduce Freehold charges

Patil also gave his consent to reduce charges to be paid after renewal of lease. He also approved to bring down penal charges along with issuance of necessary clarification regarding charges of premium lease holders.

Revenue minister Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil on Tuesday held a meeting on the request of MLC Pravin Datke and agreed to reduce nazul lands freehold charges from existing 5% of ready reckoner (RR) value to 2%. The minister directed officials to prepare policies regarding freehold charges and other decisions taken in the meeting.

Taking serious cognizance of problems being faced by lease holders of nazul lands, Datke, also president of BJP city unit, had raised the issue in legislative council during ongoing winter session. Patil had assured to hold a meeting on the issue.

Patil also gave his consent to reduce charges to be paid after renewal of lease. He also approved to bring down penal charges along with issuance of necessary clarification regarding charges of premium lease holders.

President of Dhantoli Nagrik Mandal Swanand Soni was present and briefed collector Vipin Itankar and other officials about the problems and some solutions for the issues related to nazul lease holders.
