Records of villages under MCG & MCM to be digitised

These records include details of land, fixed deposits, proceeding books of meetings, account books, litigations, estimates, list of all court cases, property and lease registers and list of employees such as guards and sanitation workers, among others.

The municipal corporations of Gurgaon (MCG) and Manesar (MCM) are planning to digitise the records of the areas under their jurisdictions. Officials said they have started collecting records from 45 villages falling under the two corporations and will soon digitise these records.

These records include details of land, fixed deposits, proceeding books of meetings, account books, litigations, estimates, list of all court cases, property and lease registers and list of employees such as guards and sanitation workers, among others.

“We have designated a community centre at Bhondsi as the site to keep records of the 16 villages under MCG and 29 villages under MCM. We have decided to digitise these important records in order to keep them safe,” said Pradeep Ahlawat, MCG joint commissioner-IV, who has been assigned the task to collect the records from the 45 villages.

“As soon as the new office of MCM is ready, records of the villages under its jurisdiction will be shifted there,” he added.

MCG’s limits have been extended with the addition of the 16 villages, while MCM too has been constituted recently.

With the merger of these villages with the civic bodies, they will be taken over by the corporations and there will be a change in the governance of these villages. For the transformation from panchayat system to an urban body, officials said the records of these villages will also be handed over to the respective municipal corporations.

Sources said it is likely that a company, which is already digitising the revenue records of Haryana, will digitise the MCG and MCM records and a decision regarding this will be taken in a few days. While a few panchayats, which are relatively new, have limited records, some old panchayats have well-kept records, which will be very useful for the corporations, officials said.

“These records are very useful for the municipal corporations. For example, in case of litigation, we should have all the pertinent records. Moreover, we will know the budget spent on development works, and information sought through RTI can easily be provided. These records are also extremely important for planning,” said an MCG official privy to the matter.

Officials said that records of Dhorka, Rampura, Wazirpur, Sehrawan, Khoh and Palra villages have been collected. The process of taking possession of records of Hayatpur, Dharampur and Garhi is underway.
