Industry leaders across world are performing social responsibility in one way or another and Indian real estate players are also not behind. While few have paid advance salaries to their employees, some are donating money for hospitals.
Godrej Group has earmarked a fund of Rs 50 crore for community support and relief initiatives. The group has donated Rs 5 crore to the BMC, 115 hospital beds to Maharashtra government hospitals and helped set up a 75-bed quarantine center at the Seven Hills hospital, Andheri, Mumbai.
Lodha Group has provided advance salaries for the month of March 2020 to all employees from lower to mid management level.
Pune-based Gera Developments is making sure that employees salaries for the month of March and April are paid in full. “We have had to shut down all the construction sites in Pune. This will affect progress and impact our ability to send out invoices once work resumes, however, while this is a challenge we will face, the greater challenge is for our contractors and even more so for their workers who get paid based on work done.
We are considering a policy for contractor advances to help them tide over the crisis in case the lock down continues for much longer,” said Rohit Gera, managing director of the company.
