Following a direction from the urban local bodies (ULB) department, MCG will hold property tax data correction camps across the city on June 10 and 11. The department has received several complaints about incorrect property data.
“The property tax data correction camps will be held in each zone of the city on Saturday and Sunday. The residents who want to get their data corrected should visit these camps. The ULB department has directed the municipalities to hold camps since residents have complained about errors in the data collected,” said MCG spokesperson SS Rohilla.
According to a survey by a private agency in January last year, 5.14 lakh properties come under the MCG’s ambit. Once the survey was over, the residents complained that the new property IDs generated had incorrect details, creating a faulty database of the residents’ properties.
MCG will be deploying 292 field staff including multi-tasking staff from the MCG’s health wing, supervisors from the sanitation wing, and clerks from the councillors’ office for re-verification of the property tax data. The decision was taken after chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar had reviewed the status of the surveyed properties and directed re-verification.
