Portal launched for NOC for unapproved colonies’ properties

A portal was launched where people can apply for no objection certificates (NOC) of plots and other properties in unapproved colonies.

In a success for the local realtors and property dealers who had launched an agitation against the state government, the Punjab government, on Monday, accepted one of their major demands.

A portal was launched where people can apply for no objection certificates (NOC) of plots and other properties in unapproved colonies. The development comes in the backdrop of the recent back-to-back meetings of the city developers with cabinet minister Aman Arora.

This will give a huge relief to the people of Ludhiana. According to the businessmen, there are more than 30,000 residents who need NOCs. Businessmen are demanding that the state government should ensure that the departments concerned accept these NOCs and provide basic civic amenities to the holders.

Gurwinder Singh Lamba, state president of the Punjab Colonisers’ and Property Dealers’ Association, said, “We are happy that the state government has accepted one of our major demands that we had put forward during our meeting with cabinet minister Aman Arora. Through this portal, people, who have properties in colonies declared as illegal, will be able to apply for NOC and get approvals online.

Residents of Ludhiana will be the biggest beneficiaries of this portal because to date more than 30,000 residents of the city require NOC from the Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (glada) for their properties. An applicant simply needs to register on this portal, fill in his property details and after paying a fee can apply for the NOC. The government should also ensure that this portal works without any glitches and the recipients are provided access to basic civic amenities, like electricity meters, sewerage connections, among others.”

Deepak Badyal, general secretary of the association, said, “We are thankful to the state government, chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and cabinet minister Aman Arora for accepting our demand. This portal will give much-required relief not only to the property owners, but also to the property dealers. We also want to draw the attention of the government towards our other pending demands, like reducing the collector rates.”
